So, anybody who has seen the movie “The Bucket List” will know that the character played by Morgan Freeman has lived a ‘good’ life with his wife and is in hospital recovering from cancer treatment when the character played by Jack Nicholson shares his hospital room and the two make great companions. Along the way, Jack Nicholson’s character realises that Morgan Freeman’s character has a “bucket list” of things he wanted to do before he died (but it looks as though he would never now get the chance to do.) Jack Nicholson’s character persuades Morgan Freeman’s character to undertake the items listed, despite hesitations from the wife.
The rest of the movie is about the two of their adventures and coping with cancer.
Well, I don’t have cancer, but I am getting to the stage (age) that it is time to think about a bucket list… the things I want to do before I die.
We all have wants, but a writing a bucket list is a way of prioritising the “wants”. So without further ado, here is the beginning of the list:
1) Go 4×4 driving around the Cape York Penninsula in northern Queensland and discover some of the sites where the Europeans first landed in Australia.
2) Become a Dive Master
3) Dive the Rowley Shoals and explore Montebello Islands
4) Do the Kakoda Track
5) Visit Dirk Hartog Island
6) Finish and publish my book
